A Name Is Not Just A Name

I get asked often “Where did the name Day 3 Organics come from?”

Just like the names of all my soaps, the brand name came from the things that inspired me. My life is inspired by art, music, film, literature, and a random fascination with Greek/Roman mythology. I, of course, did not just name everything a random name as if I was pulling words out of a hat. Every name has a story.

Even though the idea of Day 3 Organics started ten years ago, I struggled to find a name that didn’t seem rushed and cliche. I had a notebook full of random names like “Body Earth” or “Rose Apothecary”….Not that those aren’t good names, but they meant nothing to me and that’s just not my style. Then I came upon some very challenging times in life that led me to reading the bible. The book of Genesis and The Story of Creation just hit different for me at this time. This was also around the time where, after venturing off my vegan diet, I was looking into ways my meat and junk food diet contributed to my very serious depression and anxiety.

Now….this is not a story about the church and Christianity, nor do I claim to have a “Christian business” because I do not. This is a story of how life’s moments can become unexpected inspiration.

So back to the story of Creation, which is very similar to the story of Gaia and Uranus, of Greek mythology, but I digress…..

**clears throat**

In the beginning….

God made the heavens and earth. On the first day that God made, He made light. On the second day, the sky was made. On day 3 **wink** God created all the land, plants, and trees. Depending on how you choose to interpret this, the plants were for our survival. To eat and cure ailments. This verse convinced me that veganism was the way to a happier, healthier me.

A light bulb went off. Plants in all their wonderful forms are all we truly need to be our best selves, in my opinion. Boom! A name was born.

Each soap, body spray, and scented oil has an origin story. Some more interesting than others. Some make sense only to me, and thats okay. All are inspirations.
